The Chrysalis Awards, presented at the Chrysalis Gala on May 10, celebrate the exceptional achievements and contributions of youth within our community. Each year, Hellenic organizations, associations, and community groups are invited to nominate outstanding young individuals who embody leadership, service, creativity, and the timeless Hellenic values that continue to shape Western civilization.

This year, Hellenic organizations across Canada nominated inspiring young people across a range of categories — from civic responsibility and cultural preservation to academic excellence and community impact.
Each nominee represents a story of perseverance, passion, and pride in their roots. Together, they remind us that the next generation of leaders is already here — shaping our communities through action, empathy, and purpose.
Iakovos (Jacob) Danassis

The Skaliotes Society of Montreal
Driven by passion and purpose, Iakovos (Jacob) Danassis is a rising force in aerospace engineering and a proud advocate for Hellenic values. A fourth-year Concordia University student, dedicated tutor, and Vice President of the Skaliotian Society of Montreal, Jacob balances academic excellence with leadership, compassion, and community service. Whether mentoring students, supporting family, or excelling in logistics, Jacob leads with heart, resilience, and a deep connection to his roots.
Kasandra Fotiadis

The Pontian Association of Montreal
Kasandra Fotiadis is a passionate cultural ambassador, preserving Pontian Greek heritage through dance, youth mentorship, and community engagement. For over three years, she has taught Pontian dance and history to youth aged 14 to 23, inspiring pride and connection to their roots. Through her leadership, Kasandra has organized performances, festivals, and national youth trips, fundraising tirelessly to expand opportunities. Her passion, perseverance, and mentorship continue to shape a vibrant, resilient community.
Maria Kostakis

The Cretans’ Association of Canada
Maria has been a pillar of the Cretans’ Association of Montreal since childhood, first as a dancer and later as a teacher and leader. As Youth President, she has helped raise over $100,000 for charities and cultural initiatives, including the purchase of 75 traditional costumes. Maria’s passion for Greek culture, tireless work ethic, and ability to unite over 200 youth dancers make her a beloved mentor and inspiring community builder.
Dimitrios James Korogiannis

St-Nick Youth Association of Laval
Dimitrios James Korogiannis, a proud member of the St-Nick Youth Association of Laval, leads with compassion and civic spirit. An active altar boy, event organizer, and volunteer, Dimitrios dedicates countless hours to his church and community. He mentors both young and elderly members, drawing strength from his own experiences with adversity. A top student in science and advanced mathematics, Dimitrios exemplifies leadership, resilience, and a heartfelt commitment to helping others.
Panagiota Vasileia (Silia) Lazarou

The Laconian Brotherhood of Canada
Silia embodies resilience, leadership, and compassion. Born and raised in Greece, she moved to Canada at 13, speaking only Greek, and embraced the challenges of a new country. She earned a diploma in Special Care Counselling and is pursuing a BA in Psychology. Silia works as a Respite Supervisor at the Centre of Dreams and Hopes and as a Behaviour Technician at the EMSB, supporting neurodivergent individuals. A proud Hellenic leader, she inspires with her courage, heart, and unwavering commitment to community growth.
Antonia Macris

Antonia Macris is a passionate community leader championing Hellenic and Canadian youth. She has held leadership roles with the National Hellenic Students Association, Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, Hellenic Scholarships Foundation, Hellenic Initiative Canada, and AHEPA. A Corporate Learning Manager in Government, she holds graduate degrees in environment, educational technology, and communications. Antonia has chaired conventions, mentored youth, and was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal and Quebec National Assembly Medal for her impact on youth leadership across North America.
Stephanie Neofotistos

Stephanie is a dedicated honours student and proud community leader. At just 16, she shines through her volunteerism with the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, including at Church activities, participation in Metropolitan Youth Montreal and with the Laconian Brotherhood of Canada. A proud flag bearer at Greek Independence Day celebrations and an academic achiever at Socrates-Demosthenes High School, Stephanie leads by example, mentoring younger students and inspiring them with her compassion, civic spirit, and deep pride in her Hellenic roots.

Tania has been a dedicated force within the Cretans’ Association Youth, leading with heart, generosity, and cultural pride. From fundraising to inspiring young dancers, Tania has worked tirelessly to preserve Hellenic traditions and uplift those in need. A true role model, she champions community spirit, philanthropy, and leadership, ensuring the next generation embraces their roots with empathy, generosity, and pride. Her impact continues to shape and strengthen her community.
Gregory Vasilogianis

Gregory Vasilogianis is a dedicated leader within the Orthodox Christian youth community. He has served as President of Met Youth Montreal and Met Youth St. George, Treasurer of JPC Evangelismos, Camp Met Quebec Administrator, and board member of Met Youth Canada. A mentor and role model, Greg fosters connection through faith, friendship, and service. His leadership and devotion continue to inspire the next generation of youth.
