Greek Roots is a Canadian nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower the next generation of leaders through community volunteerism, mentorship and Hellenic cultural experiences. We welcome all youth aged 13-29 who espouse the values of Hellenism and/or are interested in learning more about Greece and Greek culture.

Volunteer at the St. Jean Baptiste Greek Festival

Whether you’re Greek, philhellene, or just love being part of a great community event, you’re welcome here.

Greek Roots is thrilled to support the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal’s Annual St. Jean Baptiste Greek Festival by helping provide volunteers for the service area and other festival roles.

This beloved South Shore community tradition has been bringing people together for 44 years, celebrating Greek food, music, culture, dance, family, and community spirit. The festival is open to the public and welcomes Greeks, friends of Greeks, and the broader community to kick off Summer 2026 together.

Greek Roots volunteers will help support the festival atmosphere by assisting where needed, including in service areas and other on-site roles. Volunteer assignments will be coordinated based on festival needs and volunteer age requirements.

Volunteer Requirements

  • No skills or previous experience are necessary.
  • If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must complete this release form: https://greekroots.org/consent-form/
    • Note: your parent or guardian only has to compete this form once (i.e. not for each volunteer opportunity)
  • Instructions and orientations will be provided closer to the event.
  • You will be provided with clothing/markings to identify you as a volunteer.
  • To get to the location, we encourage you to carpool or take public transportation
  • For shifts of more than 4 hours, a free meal is provided.
  • We will provide a volunteer confirmation following your service. Please allow up to two weeks to receive your confirmation
