Roots Revival: A Modern Rural and Urban Greek Experience

Now accepting applications, our Roots Revival program is a one-of-a-kind experience for youth to discover grassroots living & activities, immersing them into the realities of urban and rural life while enjoying the splendors of Greece’s beautiful rich history and culture. Taking place from Friday, June 20, to Saturday, July 5, 2025, the trip is designed to empower young leaders through an unforgettable blend of cultural exploration, community service, and leadership development.
This program takes place in the vibrant city of Athens and the scenic island of Naxos, offering participants the chance to connect deeply with Greece’s timeless heritage and contemporary innovations. Through meaningful volunteer projects, hands-on learning experiences, and guided cultural explorations, participants will gain a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship, global responsibility, and the values that have shaped Western civilization.
Program Highlights
- Grassroots Living & Immersion: Experience grassroots living and activities, gaining firsthand insight into both urban and rural life in Greece.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Work with local charities on environmental and social initiatives, such as tree planting, beach cleanups, and food bank support.
- Cultural Immersion: Discover Greece’s rich history, art, and traditions through guided tours and hands-on workshops.
- Leadership Development: Build resilience, personal excellence, and civic responsibility while fostering intercultural dialogue and active citizenship.
- Networking & Friendships: Connect with like-minded youth from Canada and Greece, and form lifelong bonds.
Who Can Apply?
We invite youth aged 16+ from across Canada to apply. Share your story with us! Tell us how you are engaged in your community and how you embody the Hellenic values of civic responsibility, personal excellence, resilience, and perseverance.
Application Deadline
Applications are open now! Submit your application by March 30, 2025 to be considered. Only 20 spots are available, so don’t wait!
Costs & Fundraising
While a portion of our program will be generously supported by our sponsors, participants must cover the cost of their air travel, transport, accommodations and personal expenses–a minimum of $2,500. To assist with fundraising, we will provide you with access to our peer-to-peer fundraising platform, Fundrazr, where you can rally your community to support your journey.
Q&A
Q: What if I can’t raise enough funds for air travel and personal expenses?
A: We encourage all participants to utilize our fundraising platform (Fundrazr) and involve their community. However, you are responsible for ensuring these funds are secured before the trip.
Q: Will I know the exact program cost before committing?
A: Yes. Any funding shortfalls will be announced by May 15, 2025, allowing participants to make an informed decision about their participation.
Q: Can I participate if I’m not Greek?
A: Absolutely! Our program is inclusive and welcomes youth of all backgrounds who share an interest in Hellenism and community engagement.
